It takes the weekend to get the new space into a kind of order: futon and washing machine set up for delivery and a few small items like a ¥100 plate, a mug, and a 4-liter water boiler on the counter. A hot soak in the ofuro and a cup of green tea go a long way toward making the space comfortable, even as I’m waiting for something to sleep on.
